on Maviro Environmental Recovery fee

Introduction of Decontamination - Environmental Recovery Fee

The Maviro group of companies is committed to controlling costs so we can continue to provide you with the best overall value in our specialty lines of industrial services. Maviro continues to invest in technologies that reduce our overall impact on the environment and improve worker safety.

However environmental related costs are something we cannot fully control, and the nature of our business is such that our personnel and equipment work at multiple sites, locations and jurisdictions  and have additional indirect operational costs.  Our Environmental Recovery fee is meant to contribute to those costs some of which are: Environmental insurance, Environmental compliance, non-site environmental disposal and clean up, off site equipment decontamination, off site PPE disposal, Environmental monitoring and reporting as well as other non-job related environmental expenses.

The Environmental Recovery Fee Charge that is included in a customer’s invoice is determined by applying 1.95% to the pre-tax invoice.

The Environmental Recovery fee is not a tax or surcharge imposed by or remitted to any governmental or regulatory agency. The Recovery Fee percentages may be changed at the discretion of Maviro and market and/or regulatory changes.

The Environmental Recovery Fee will start to be applied to invoices beginning March 1, 2019

Maviro is committed to being a good neighbor to our customers, our team members, our environment and the communities in which we work.

Answers To The Common Questions

What is the Environmental Recovery Fee?

While there are many things we can control in our business the ongoing changes on the environmental compliance side of our business is not one of them, these costs of operating the business in a safe and environmentally responsible manner are not tied to one specific customer or market segment but to the overall business as a whole.

The Environmental Recovery fees is meant to recoup some of those costs such as the cleaning,  Recovery and recycling of equipment and products to ensure quality, readiness and disposal of items at the end of their life cycle and to ensure our equipment and operations are properly decontaminated before going to the next job.

What is a visible Environmental Recovery fee?

“Visible” means the Environmental Recovery Fee is added to the invoice price before taxes and will appear on the invoice of the customer.

Is the Environmental Recovery Fee, or environmental handling fee, a tax?

No. Environmental Recovery Fees are not remitted to the government but go to recover Maviro costs on all of the components of keeping our operation compliant, some of those cost are:

  • Environmental insurance
  • Environmental compliance
  • Non-site environmental disposal and clean up,
  • Off site equipment decontamination,
  • Off site PPE disposal,
  • Environmental monitoring and reporting
  • Environmental permitting and Licensing
  • Other non-job related environmental expenses.
Is the Environmental Recovery Fee taxable?
Yes. A visible Environmental Recovery Fee on a customer invoice is added to the invoice price before taxes.
How often will the fee be reviewed or changed?

Maviro will periodically review the fee to determine whether they are appropriately recovering costs and contributing to an acceptable operating margin. It is not our intent to be changing this fee frequently.   (Annually or every 6 months would be most)

Why is MAVIRO charging a Environmental Recovery Fee to its customers?

As the majority of Maviros business is for specific on site customer services, which it directly charges customers for, while the majority of these Environmental related costs are not direct job type costs. As these Environmental type costs have continued to grow Maviro believed the most transparent method to recover these costs was through the Environmental Recovery Fee.

Who determines the amount to be charged as an Environmental Recovery Fee?
Maviro looked at its costs of being an Environmental responsible supplier and at the costs that it was not able to charge through its on site contracts and needed a fair way to cover those costs. Maviro will continue to review its costs over time and will adjust as those cost change significantly.
